United Way opens nominations for annual Volunteer United impact awards

UWSM is seeking nominations of volunteers for recognition at the organization’s annual Volunteer Recognition Event, to be held in early summer.

United Way of Southwest Michigan is preparing to present the Volunteer United Service Impact Award and Volunteer United Business Partner Impact Award to an individual volunteer and corporation, company, or business from Berrien, Cass, or Van Buren County who has made tremendous contributions to a nonprofit that supports work in UWSM’s impact areas: education, health, income, and/or basic needs. Both winners will have the opportunity to direct $1,000 to the nonprofit of their choice.

“Thousands of people throughout Southwest Michigan volunteer their time, talent, and muscle to hundreds of nonprofit organizations across our region. The Volunteer United impact awards celebrate not only the worthy recipients, but also the vibrant spirit of volunteerism in our community,” said Debbie Ramirez, Volunteer Engagement Director of United Way of Southwest Michigan.

Volunteer United Service Impact Award

Nominees for this award may have volunteered with a diverse number of organizations or have made a significant impact with a single organization. This award will be given to someone with more than two years of volunteerism impact in Berrien, Cass, or Van Buren counties in Michigan. (Nominee must either live in or volunteer in at least one of these counties.) Nominators MUST represent a local organization when nominating an individual for this award. Self-nominations are not allowed.

Volunteer United Business Partner Impact Award

The Volunteer United Business Partner Impact Award recognizes a corporation, company, organization, or business from Berrien, Cass, or Van Buren County that has fostered an environment of volunteerism within their organization. The organization should promote volunteering broadly within their team and serve as a champion of volunteerism in the community. Candidates for this award can be submitted either by an organization or business, or by self-nominations.
