Why did you choose to serve on the United Way of Southwest Michigan board? I chose to serve on the United Way of Southwest Michigan board because as a donor and a volunteer of United Way, I wanted to do more and have a bigger impact on the great work that they do with the community.
What does our mission mean to you? The mission is the heart of everything United Way does. Truly investing in our communities when people need it the most. That’s the part that’s so important; most people don’t know they need the help and support until they need it right now. And United Way is there to give that support.
What is one local cause or community issue that you are especially passionate about, and why? Financial Literacy from high school students to Seniors in the community. Since I work at a financial institution, I see the hurdles that people face when it comes to their finances. Whether it’s financial education, fraud prevention or budgeting, we can help our community in so many ways.
When you're not working or volunteering, what’s a favorite hobby or activity you enjoy? My husband and I have recently taken up pickle ball……..who knew it could be so much fun! Indoors, I share a passion for reading with my daughter, so we are always comparing stories, exchanging books, etc.
