What inspired you to become a part of United Way?
For some time, my family has reflected on the privilege we enjoy. We have the good fortune of being born in the U.S which advocates for racial and gender equality along with other ideas of inclusion, and a number of other benefits, like leading health care access - which was a blessing when our youngest had 5 surgeries in her 1st two years. We were also born into households that supported and help shape the path to higher levels of education. And throughout our lives, we have benefited from the support of friends, family, and our community. With all that said, we have chosen to give back to support organizations in our community that impact families, children, and diversity including the universities we attended, Make-a-Wish Michigan, and Zeeland Educational Foundation.
What is your leadership philosophy?
Deliver increasing value thru continuous people development and process improvements.
What is your most memorable volunteer experience?
Met a Make-a-Wish, "Wish Kid" who explained the impact of her wish (that we donated) experience returning normalcy to her life.
What is your most treasured possession?
Love; What matters to me are the relationships I have with friends and family. The shared experiences hopes and struggles and looking forward to being a part of whats next.
