  • Helping to “makeover” a local facility (park, beach, trail, school, etc) through clean up, painting, gardening, etc.

  • Hosting a drive - Food, winter gear, school supplies, baby shower, etc.

  • Packing bags for underserved students in your community

  • Assembling one of a variety of kits (hygiene, new mom, patient care, literacy, etc.)

  • Sorting donations for a local charity or organization

What to think about when considering a group volunteer experience

There are several things to consider if your group wants to volunteer. Discussing some of the following will help the United Way team identify some volunteer options that meet your group’s desires:

  • Preferred date & time of day

  • Causes or areas of interest that are meaningful to your group?

  • Budget. Agencies sometimes have work that needs to be done but might not have funds to purchase the supplies or equipment needed to do the work.

  • Understand that there may not always be a need for volunteers on a specific date/time. When this is the case, packing kits or hosting a drive are a great alternative as there is always a need.

  • It may be difficult for an agency to accommodate a large group of volunteers at one time. The United Way team will work with you to identify potential solutions.
