What inspired you to become a part of United Way?

Two things inspired me - The first one was the need that I saw within the community. There is a lot of help that is required for healthcare, education and infrastructure and I wanted to contribute to the well-being of the community. The second aspect is that I saw a number of my colleagues from Whirlpool contribute their time towards noble causes that support the community. This also played a significant role in inspiring me to go above and beyond in giving back to the community.

Why do you serve on the board?

Given all the strategic and operational experiences leading multiple fundraising initiatives that I have gained over the past 6 years, I believe this is the right time for me to contribute at a higher-level, making decisions that directly impact the community in a positive manner. Sitting on the board also gives me an opportunity to analyze problems at both a macroeconomic and microeconomic standpoint and define solutions that are not only highly impactful but also meaningful.

What is your leadership philosophy?

To give my 100% in everything I do and contribute to the fullest of my abilities to make this world a better place for everyone to live in.

What is your most memorable volunteer experience?

I have thoroughly enjoyed running the product sale events every year. These sales events are open to the public and Whirlpool donates all the products sold during this event. These products are discounted pretty significantly, and it gives me immense pleasure when I am able to help people in need with great quality products at a huge markdown. I also believe that through my community involvement, I have been able to inspire many people to do the same. This is also a very special feeling.

Who are your heroes in real life?

My parents have been my role models and inspiration. I have learned a lot from them, and I owe my successes to my upbringing and their pursuant focus on instilling deep moral values within me.
