Why did you choose to serve on the United Way of Southwest Michigan board? I feel a deep connection to this community, and I believe the United Way of Southwest Michigan plays a vital role in supporting it. I grew up in Stevensville and attended Lakeshore Public Schools before spending about a decade away. When I moved back, I felt a strong desire to give back to the place that shaped me. United Way’s mission to create a resilient and united community resonated deeply - it felt like the right way to make a meaningful impact close to home.
What does our mission mean to you? To me, the mission is both powerful and personal. A truly united and resilient community is one where no one is left behind - where people feel safe, supported, and empowered to contribute in their own way. That sense of belonging and shared responsibility is what makes communities thrive. United Way doesn’t just provide resources—it builds bridges, fosters collaboration, and strengthens the fabric of our region.
What is one local cause or community issue that you are especially passionate about, and why? I’m especially passionate about the work of the Children’s Advocacy Center, which provides critical support to children and families affected by abuse. The CAC’s work is a reminder of how much a community can do when it protects and prioritizes its most vulnerable members.
When you're not working or volunteering, what’s a favorite hobby or activity you enjoy? I have a passion for food. Whether it's exploring new restaurants in the area, or taking on a new and complex cooking project, I enjoy all varieties of culinary exploration.
