What we do

United Way is at the heart of giving, serving and knowing our community. Because of its close working relationships with agencies in Berrien County, United Way is where people call to be informed, to get direction and guidance, and to find help when it is needed most. United Way has the support and involvement of the community’s movers and shakers—the people who want to be a part of making lasting change in the lives of families in Berrien County. United Way of Southwest Michigan seeks to create positive impact in our community through:

Funding:

United Way works to ensure crucial services are available to people in our community through annual funding to 21 local partner agencies. In addition, we provide funding to multiple other projects and programs throughout Berrien County.

Leadership:

But it is more than funding. Through its constant contact with agencies throughout the community, United Way can identify emerging needs and bring the right people to the table to find solutions and create impact.

Accountability:

United Way carefully evaluates partner agencies. Community volunteers monitor and review agencies to make sure our dollars are being used to make lasting changes in the community.

Community Partner:

United Way is at the table when there is a community issue that needs to be addressed. We work with other funders, agencies and community leaders to help solve problems.
