Live United Days for Education will be the week of October 19, 2009 and offers community volunteers the opportunity to go into classrooms in your area to read to and work with elementary and pre-school school children.

Live United Days take the place of the annual Day of Caring. Instead of one day of community projects, Live United Days allows volunteers to select their volunteer activity among four events around United Way's Community Impact areas of Education, Income, Health and Basic Needs. The change was made to be more convenient for employers and create more impact in the community.

As Part of Live United Days for Education Volunteers will:

  • Spend 2 hours in a classroom or multiple classrooms reading and working with children
  • Learn more about the impact of early literacy on children
  • Work with a school or pre-school in your area

To Participate volunteers must fill out the form and email or fax to United Way of Southwest Michigan.
